As I was discussing some marketing strategies with a client I realized that we are going into month 7 of 2013!
Where has the year gone. You may have missed the fact that YouTube turned 8 in May.
YouTube first launched in 2005. Since that time video has continued to grow in popularity.
Although many at first were just posting funny videos it’s now the second largest search engine with people regularly looking to YouTube for help and advice.
I’ve given many presentations on the Power of Video and as I give each presentation the statistics are always changing.
For example last year 72 hours of video was uploaded to YouTube every minute. Now? It’s 100 hours of video a minute!
The popularity of video has made many celebrities start creating their own YouTube channels. The best part is you don’t have to be a celebrity to create your own “TV” channel on YouTube! How amazing is that!
You can use video for so many things such as introducing your new book as I did:
If you are publishing a book think of what a video trailer could do to help you get more online exposure.
Claiming your online video real estate has never been more important.
It’s no longer enough to simply create videos. You need to create the right type of video with the right engagement.
I’ll be talking about some of the key elements your videos will need but for now let’s look at some other figures.
For example as of March 2013 YouTube now has more than a billion unique users per month.
It may surprise you to know that 4 billion hours of video are watched on YouTube.
YouTube is available across 53 countries and in 61 languages.
When it comes to traffic 70% of YouTube’s traffic comes from outside the United States!
YouTube can change lives. Did you hear of Jackie Evancho? She is a little girl who was discovered on YouTube. Her voice is absolutely amazing! Her YouTube video got her noticed and she wound up on the popular show America’s Got Talent.
If it weren’t for YouTube we wouldn’t know about her and so many other talented people.
What really excites me about YouTube is the potential that’s there for you as an entrepreneur to get your message heard by a wide audience.
With YouTube (video) being so popular and getting more popular you need to ask yourself when you will take that leap.
If you are an active blogger adding video should be a strategy you should start using without a doubt.
It means that you you need to make 2013 the year you start your video strategy.
The all important question is how do you stand out from everyone else doing video?
That’s what we’ll discuss in tomorrows post.
What fact did you find surprising about YouTube?
Does this make you realize even more how much a video strategy can increase your online exposure?
