You walk into the bookstore. As you look at the shelves that contain a wealth of knowledge and expertise, you secretly think your book should be there.
Then self-doubt whispers in your ear, “who are you to write a book?”
Well, I’m here to tell you that you can and should write your book. Forget about the negative voice in your head.
Everyone has the potential to be an author. That means you!
When you think about writing I want you to envision yourself sitting down and having a conversation. What would you say to the person across the table from you who is looking to learn from you?
Writing a book is doesn’t have to be hard or unattainable.
What you need is to find the right steps that lead you to the end goal which is your own book.
There are two secrets to writing your book in my opinion.
First, you need a plan.
What will your book be about? Who needs to read it. In other words, you need to do some research.
Second, you need to be organized.
When you take the necessary steps to become a published author, you break down what appears to be insurmountable into manageable bite size steps.
Let’s put this into proper perspective.
All your life you’ve planned on climbing Mount Everest. When you initially see Everest, you think, “no way will I ever be able to get to the summit”. It’s too high. It’s too far away. Your mind can’t picture all of the steps you need to take in order to get to the summit so your mind goes into denial.
Here’s the thing:
Other people from all walks of life have successfully reached the top of Mount Everest.
How did they do it?
First, they planned their strategy. Maybe that included climbing every day, reaching higher heights each time.
They might have worn a backpack with supplies for hours on end so they could get used to it.
These successful people planned and then organized everything they needed in a systematic and methodical way.
When you approach your writing in this manner you can learn to plan and organize your writing projects.
As the climber concentrates solely on the steps they take, you concentrate solely on the words you write, The result is that you, like the climber, will eventually reach your goal. You will have written a book.
Sounds like a plan, right?
