What Is Quip?
Quip looks like something I’ve been waiting to have for my iphone for awhile now.
What is it and why am I excited to get this app?
This is a new start up from Facebook CTO Bret Taylor. Here’s what he told TechCrunch: “Quip is a modern word processor optimized for the era of tablets and phones”.
As a writer and blogger I’m anxious to get my hands on this app. I can envision using this for many of my projects.
There’s no getting around it. People are using their mobile devices for just about everything.
The best thing about a smaller tablet is that you can take your “office” with you no matter where you go. Not only that but its super convenient.
I have lugged around my laptop to every event we’ve gone to in order to make sure I could stay productive, get my blog posts done, answer emails etc.
Being able to have a smaller device like the tablet that enables you to be so portable is a distinct feature I enjoy.
Here are just a few of the things you can do with this app:
1) Your document is adapted to whatever shape size or screen that your project is on.
2) You can share the document with another user so that you can collaborate.
3) From the homepage of the app you are able to see all of your documents and even check to see if there are new messages or updates.
The downfall I do see to the app is that it only produces PDF’s not word docs. However according to the article the team has worked on making a flawless copy and paste ooption so that when you past it back into word the formatting is preserved.
The app at this time is for the iphone and ipad but they are working on making it available for android users.
The app is free for personal use so try it out and if you think it will work for your business it will only cost $12.00 per month.
I’m going to try it out how about you?
