Until till death do us part. That’s what we hear said at weddings. That is if you make it to the alter.
This is the true story of a man who thought he found the love of his life only to find his dreams shattered.
It’s the way he handled the situation that makes us say “when life gives you lemons make lemonade”!
Let’s meet Josh Opperman for example. He was engaged for three months. I’m sure he thought he was on the top of the world. Then one day he came home to find the engagement ring and his fiancé’s belongings gone.
You could just imagine how devastated he was.
I can only imagine how at that point he felt his world was turned upside down.
Initially he thought he’d sell the (get ready for this) $10,000 ring and make most of his money back. What he found shocked him. People were only willing to give him about 35% of the purchase price of the ring.
First I have to say kudos to his ex fiancé for returning the ring. I know of women who would have broken the engagement and kept the ring.
How did he make lemonade? He created the site “I Do Now I Don’t” a website for pre-loved rings.
There are many people who wouldn’t buy a ring this way but it could be an incredible way to purchase a ring you might not otherwise have been able to afford.
What might encourage people to buy from the site is the stories behind some of the rings.
I read one story of a man who said he was pressured into purchasing the ring at the jewelry store. He never did propose. Now he wants to sell the ring.
It’s a really interesting concept.
His site even sells pre-loved wedding dress.
Now you may think that’s something you’d never do but I’ve had many conversations with brides. They want their moment and if it means buying a pre-loved dress that originally cost $10,000 they’ll do it.
Unless you go around telling everyone nobody will be the wiser.
The fact that Josh took his situation and created a business from it is something we need to take note of.
There are many situations that come up in all our lives. It’s how we handle them that matters.
When I was on Josh’s site I also noticed he sells other types of jewelry as well.
Here’s what Josh said on his site:
“Maybe you’re wondering what happened. Was I scarred for life by my broken engagement? Not at all. I got to launch an amazing business that connects people every day and has landed me on Rachael Ray, CNN and Whoopi Goldberg. And here’s the best part: I am pleased to report that I was married in August—to the real love of my life”
Great ending to the story don’t you think?
