Laura wanted to start a sewing business. Since there was another person already established in town she thought, “but somebody already did it!”
I thought about Laura when I watched a recent video where Marcus Lemonis aka The Profit shared some of his insights about going into business.
He said: “When it’s ordinary and saturated your dealing with a commodity.
Ask yourself: Is the product ( or service) in the market place and if it’s saturated can you rise to the top.”

Did you notice what you need to have in order to rise above? Here they are:
Processes or attention to be the best in class
“Your process and product must be amazing.”
If you want people to view your business (brand) as the right choice you need to build that brand authority status.
What is it that you can do to make people say “yes” to your “sewing” business or whatever it is you are offering?
First communicate your message effectively on your website
Make sure you have an abundance of content on your website. Without content there’s really no reason for anyone to visit your site. Here’s why content is crucial for your site.
Your content is the single biggest value you offer prospects and visitors. Each time a new visitor comes to your site, they are looking for one thing. They are looking for a solution to their problem. That solution comes in the form of your content.
It’s your job to provide content in the form of articles or reports. You can also provide audio content, video content or even snippets of content like tips and quotes. There’s really no limit to the variety of content your website can offer. Obviously if you are a photographer you would want to display numerous photographs.
Consider offering the type of content that your audience best responds to. Make sure it fits your business goals and provides value to your visitors and prospective customers/clients.
Content is what search engines look for when they’re indexing your site. Its how they know what your site is about. This brings up a really good point. If your site is indexed by what content you post, how much more so is that content important for those who come and visit your site.
Your content is the means for which people will find you and visit your site. Its also how many of your website visitors find you.
Here’s how it works: They type into their search bar the keywords or the words that describe the information they are looking for. The search engine provides them with a list of website results. They click on one or many of these results and they end up on your website. None of this would happen if you weren’t’ posting relevant content on your site.
Sales and Profits
It doesn’t matter what your business model, content helps you make money. Content helps you establish credibility and authority with your visitors. This gives them confidence to make a purchase from you. Content also helps you establish your brand. Content also helps your prospect to get to know you and your personality. This in turns builds that business relationship and has them liking you and what you offer.
This is a buying trigger. People buy from people they like.
Content also helps persuade. What does persuade mean? “To do something through reasoning or argument.” In essence you are reasoning with people on your website.
When you present information that offers value, your visitors can make an informed decision. They can solve their problems based on the guidance and solutions you provide.
How Much Content Is Enough?
You can never have too much content as long as it provides value and supports your goals and your visitors. Create a plan to add content to your website on a regular basis. Stay in touch with trends, hot topics, your customer’s needs and problems.
There’s no hard-and-fast rule about how much content you have to have on your site. However if you want people to view you as the expert you can’t have them visit your site and only see 5 blog posts.
When creating your content make sure it meets your goals. Every piece of content you publish should have a goal and a purpose even if the purpose is simply to inform.
It’s important that you not only consider your visitors and their needs but what your time constraints and goals might be.
If you want your website and business to succeed, make sure to include content as part of your long-term strategy.
One of my favorite tools is the Editorial Calendar in WordPress.
You can go in, jot your ideas down and then go back in later on to finish up your post.
The calendar let’s you see your month at a glance, schedule posts and more.
Ultimately your content will help you stand out, give you more visibility and credibility.
Do you have a schedule for posting content to your site?
Until next time…
