Are there differences between someone who has an MBA and someone who’s an entrepreneur?
Watch this video where Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh reveals 3 personality traits successful entrepreneurs have
I found what Tony said interesting:”What I love about being an entrepreneur is that it’s really about creativity,” Hsieh told CNBC. “I think people that love being creative, love being handed a bunch of different constraints and then try to figure out what to do with it — those are the are people that [should] want to be entrepreneurs.”
Whether you agree with the video or not, people are looking for a way to make a real difference in the world.
That’s why many choose the route of being an entrepreneur. They are ready to blaze new trails and perfect the ones that already exist.
Early on I remember thinking how hard I was working for someone else only to have them reap all the benefits.
Those and other thoughts and situations led me to choose the life of an entrepreneur.
As I look back it’s been one of the best decisions I could have ever made.
Being able to share unique and creative ideas with my clients is exciting and rewarding.
Many decide on the entrepreneur life style but fall short.
Let’s talk about the 4 areas you can work on in order to attain your dream of being an entrepreneur.
In order to make any type of change in your life you need to have a good reason for doing so. Having a goal is wonderful but the reason you have to reach that goal is probably more important. If you want to change your job then you need to have a reason for doing so, reasons could include; wanting more money, feeling like you can make a real difference, moving to another city. The list could go on and on.
Setting an unachievable goal. For instance you might say you want to make an income of $100,000 your first year. How attainable is that? Do you have a website, clientele? There are steps that you need to take to build up to that income. If you don’t know what those steps are you are setting yourself up for failure. It might mean investing in your self and getting the proper training.
Having a vision of what you want is a great way to get started. That’s why it’s a good idea to keep track of your goals. This can be done in various ways. I have found that keeping a journal of what it is you want and how you are going to get there is an essential part of your journey. You have to have a plan of where you are going and how you plan to get there. Writing things down makes it seem more real, more attainable. It can also help you see the areas you are struggling in most.
Work on getting a good support system in place. Getting the support from family and friends can really make a world of difference to your goals. It’s also helpful to get the support of a business coach or mentor who has faced the same situations you have. Many have attributed having this type of support system as the reason they are a success.
If you put these four factors into practice you will find that you have both the drive and commitment to finally make those lifestyle changes you have dreamed about.
What area do you need to work on most?
