Yesterday’s Sarasota Bradenton Women Entrepreneur Meetup was at the Square 1 Burger on University Parkway.
Gaye Freedman always finds such interesting places for our group meetings.
So far I think the Tea House in Sarasota is my favorite.
Fortunately for me I sent in my RSVP quickly. The room only held 24 of us so the spots filled up quickly.
The speaker was Jane Barr who was delightful! Jane is an energy leadership coach and she certainly did have great energy!
I tried to get a few quick photos of Jane as she was speaking so here they are.
Everyone enjoyed hearing Jane tell the story of how she worked at Vera Bradley. She also talked about taking responsibility with the decisions we make. The presentation was on “Take Control Of Your Success”. Yes, we are in control!
What I love about this group of women is how open and friendly they all are.
Each time I go there is always someone new to meet and connect with.
One of the best things about networking is that you are able to share your knowledge and expertise with others in the group.
This week Gay Freedman had us do a fun exercise. She had us write down one thing we could use help with. We then picked someone and worked together to see how to could help each other.
It was a lot of fun and sometimes someone else can see what we don’t because we are too close to the situation.
The one thing I needed help with was deciding which of my courses to offer at the upcoming International Women’s Day Event in Tampa. I will be one of the sponsors for the event and I am deciding what course to offer besides my book.
As I attend networking events I make sure to ask people what their challenges are so I know the direction I should follow when creating my video courses. Since people face different challenges it’s easier to help when you simply ask!
Not long ago I wrote a post about getting direction for your business by asking others what they need help with. The point is, we are not our clients. What we need and they need are two different things.
You can only find out what those needs are by attending a variety of networking events and asking.
This means you need to seek out different meetup groups and then attend them.
It means you need to do the one thing that may be hardest for you. Getting out of your own front door!
What hinders people sometimes is the fear they experience by going to such events. The question is can you overcome that fear? Can you get to the point where you actually look forward to these meetings. Absolutely!
How would it make you feel to be the person that others a drawn to at a meeting? This can happen if you learn the Art of Networking.
Find out what needs to be done to network properly before you even attend an event. It might surprise you!
If you feel you are not enjoying your networking events then take a look at The Art Of Networking course.
If you are in the Sarasota /Bradenton area be sure to look up the group!
