As we market our business in 2016 its a good idea to find out what the latest trends are.
Once we know those trends we can start to improve upon our marketing strategies.
For my business there are several key words that will guide me in 2016. It’s funny that many of those words begin with the letter “P”.
Today we are going to talk about Purpose.
There has to be a purpose why you are using certain marketing strategies in your business.
What is the end result you are looking for?
Once you know that you can look at the trends and see how you can work your “purpose” into them.
So what are some of the trends for 2016?
Take a look at this infographic:
Since we are talking about the word “Purpose” I thought it was interesting that 60% of millennials say they choose to work for their current employers for a sense of what? Purpose!
It’s true that customers are sick of traditional advertising. They want more of a connection with the companies they do business with.
What better way to do that than by using video in your marketing strategy.
If you look at the infographic you’ll see 58% of consumers trust companies that produce video content.

Your potential customers get to see who you are and what you do.
Another way to connect with your ideal customers is to use the art of storytelling.
As a matter of fact [envoke_twitter_link]67% of North American Senior Marketers say visual assets are essential to communicating their brand stories, ranking photography and video as critical to their success.[/envoke_twitter_link]
I can tell you as an award winning Videographer and Photographer this makes my heart sing because that’s where we excel. We are able to use the right visuals and video assets to bring a brand’s story to life.
What about content marketing?
Recently I’ve read articles that state you need to use 1500 words in your blog post. Personally I don’t write that type of long content so I found it interesting that 80% of decision makers prefer to learn from a series of articles. That means your articles leave them coming back for the next episode so to speak. If they know the content is going to be long they might not come back thinking they don’t have that much time to consume the information.
How interesting that [envoke_twitter_link]84% of worldwide marketing and communication experts are going to be using influencer marketing[/envoke_twitter_link].
What is influencer marketing?
Influencer marketing, (also Influence Marketing) is a form of marketing that has emerged from a variety of recent practices and studies, in which focus is placed on specific key individuals (or types of individual) rather than the target market as a whole.
This is another reason why video is going to crucial to the success of your business.
Remember earlier I talked about the “virtual handshake?” This is where you have specific key individuals in the fore front.
Take a look at some of the commercials today. Who is doing the advertising for their products? It’s the owners.
For example in our area the owners of car dealerships are the ones in front of the camera.
For years we’ve watched the owners of Taylor Carpet One advertise their business using their family in their commercials. We’ve literally watched their children grow up.
This is influencer marketing and you can do the same thing for your business.
It makes me think of Frank Perdue and how he used to be the one who was on camera for their TV commercials. We were able to see who he was and the way he portrayed his company.
[envoke_twitter_link]Large or small any business can use video, visuals and content marketing to attract their ideal customers when done correctly[/envoke_twitter_link].
As we move forward personal branding is going to increase.
What does your personal brand mean? In my book The Secret Equation To Attracting More Clients: Marketing + P Factor + Video=$$$$ I talk about your P Factor which is your personality.
Your personal brand encompasses your style, personality, voice.
It’s the way you communicate in written form, emails, social media channels.
When using personal branding ask yourself how you want to show up in the world.
Make your first impression count.
