Who doesn’t love Lucy? You may think of her from the show I Love Lucy but here are some interesting things you might not know.
As women we tend to look at role models and Lucy could certainly be one of them.
One of the things I took away from learning more about Lucy was that even though poeople called her a B rated actress she never gave up her dreams.
When it cones to age Lucy was 40 when “I Love Lucy” aired in 1951 so we can learn her success wasn’t over night but she kept on going.
When you think about it Lucy broke ground for women in TV.
It’s encouraging to learn Lucy was not only a brilliant performer but a smart and innovative businesswoman. Along with her husband Desi Arnaz they started syndicating TV shows which was unheard of.
We also learn from this that Lucy was the first woman to own her own film studio.
I found it fascinating to learn one of the TV series her company produced was “Star Trek”. That was one of my favorite shows growing up!
Lucy is in the National Women’s Hall of Fame, which includes just one other TV star: Oprah Winfrey.
There’s is so much we can learn from Lucy. Even though we may not be in the National Women’s Hall of Fame we can still make a postive difference in the world with our unique talents and skills.
I think it’s important for us too look back in history at some of the amzing women that were real pioneers. If these women could do it so can we.
Fortunately for us we also have some wonderful present day examples.
In future posts we’ll highlight some of these women so that we can be inspired by their stories.
What did you learn about Lucy in this post?
