When I first heard about Klout I wasn’t sure what it was or what it could do.
I saw people posting their Klout score but was still puzzled until I started doing some research.
You may not be aware of Klout so here are some things you might find interesting.
Klout uses a score of 1 to 100. The higher your score the higher you rank in terms of influence.
First: Klout uses information it receives from sites like: Google+, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and then gives you a numeric score based on what it finds.
If you have a Twitter account you will be given a score. To increase your score you will need to create a specific type of Klout account.
Klout wants to help you maximize the influence you have on these various social media sites.
You can link your Klout account to YouTube and Blogger however these accounts do not have the same influence as Google+, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
As you read this you’ll come to understand how being involved in these social media sites can really boost your influence.
How can you increase your Klout score? Make it a point to post frequently on your social media sites. Your activity is important.
What I found really interesting about Klout is that it’s not about you having hundreds of followers or fans. What matters to Klout is how much they like, retweet and share you information.
This proves that it’s not about your numbers. It’s about the engagement you have.
It’s the same thing when we talk about your list of email subscribers. It’s not about having thousands of people on your list, its about having a responsive list. Makes you really think differently doesn’t it?
If your goal is to have influence on social media sites then you are going to have to be active on these sites.
There’s nothing worse than creating an account and then abandoning it. If you do that people might assume you are no longer in business.
By updating and adding new information to your social media sites, you will be improving your Klout score.
Keep in mind you don’t want to only post information about your products and services. You want to share information from other businesses as well.
Look for opportunities to share other relevant information from your followers or those you would like to connect with.
You need to be seen and heard on multiple platforms.
If you feel keeping up with social media is too daunting then you might want to consider hiring a Virtual Assistant to help you with this.
Remember, it’s about your unique voice being heard.
Your online presence is critical to the success of your business so make sure you incorporate social media marketing strategies into your daily tasks.
