A few weeks ago while watching Kathie Lee and Hoda I heard it mentioned that Kathie Lee is podcasting.
My ears immediately perked up! Kathie Lee Podcasting? Pretty awesome!
Her show is Kathie Lee And Company
There’s no doubt she has such a beautiful voice to listen to.
For those of you that don’t know what Podcasting is it’s a type of Internet radio show. Podcasts are mp3 or other audio files that can be streamed online or downloaded. A popular site for downloading Podcasts is iTunes.
Each episode covers a certain topic that’s related to your niche or your listener’s interests.
A Podcast can offer news, interviews, advice and other types of content.
Kathie Lee Gifford’s format style will be interviews.
That’s exciting for several reasons.
First listening to a podcast is a great way to consume content on the go.
When I was working on my video course “Podcast Like a Pro” that’s one of the things I kept thinking about.
You can be exercising, driving in the car, cleaning etc. You get the idea.
Second it shows podcasting is not dead.
I was listening to a webinar the other day and they made the statement “podcasting is dead”. I strongly disagree.
People have different learning styles.
Here’s a quick look at 3 learning styles
1) Video – many people enjoy learning by watching videos. This type of learning is great for people who are very visual.
2) Reading – there are those who thoroughly enjoy learning by reading about a topic or subject. It enables them to get totally immersed.
3) Audio – Some people enjoy listening in order to learn and consume information.
People have been consuming books on audio for quite awhile. As a matter of fact when we would travel to Florida, Crackle Barrel ( a restaurant with a great gift shop) offered audio books. You would purchase an audio book and as you travel you could stop and exchange the book for another one.
It’s funny because I was just talking to someone who traveled from Michigan to Florida exchanging books along the way.
Why would Cracker Barrel offer this if people weren’t looking for it? It’s popular and isn’t going anywhere.
I might add I first saw Cracker Barrel doing this
One of the reasons I created my podcasting course was because I know not only do people enjoy the audio learning style they want to create valuable content for others.
That’s what the course teaches you.
You are the host of your own Internet radio show!
You can use any of the formats we discussed earlier or perhaps you have something else in mind. A comedy show?
It’s all about offering what your audience is looking for.
So what about that statement that podcasting is dead?
Awareness of Podcasting has grown 105% since 2006 from 22% to 45% in 2012
Why is Podcasting an option you need to look into?
The more exposure you have the more influence you have.
I talk to clients all the time about creating a presence on multiples platforms because of that.
If a person is looking for the information you have and you keep popping up all over the place what do you think will happen?
More than likely they will be compelled to check out who you are and what you can do for them.
You can’t hide your talents. You need to share them in as many places as possible.
Podcasting is a great way to help you do this and more.
I think it’s fabulous that Kathie Lee has her show. Just think she has her own TV show and yet she is Podcasting!
The question is, are you Podcasting? If not, why not?
