I have been blogging on my other websites for quite some time so when I heard about the Ultimate Blog Challenge I jumped on board. I had just set up a new website and thought this would be a great way to start. I didn’t foresee the issue of having to change blogging platforms within the first several days. In spite of that I did keep up with the challenge and finished the 3 1 days of blogging. What a sense of accomplishment!
Here are a few of my take aways from this challenge:
I have met a number of wonderful woman that I would never have met otherwise. We all seemed to really work at making sure we visited each others sites and posted our comments. The Comment Luv was returned! How great was that! These woman were a great support. It was nice to post on our Facebook Page and see others to do the same. We were all in this together! Can you say community?
As I mentioned in my first paragraph I had to change website platforms so I learned at LOT about Word Press. Truth be told I had planned on doing this but not with the urgency that I had. I knew I wanted to take part in the challenge and post all 31 days. For those who have been using Word Press for a long time think back to your learning curve and think of trying to do all of that in a 24-48 hour period of time! I still have a long way to go with learning all the ins and outs but I’m so glad it happened this way.
Scheduling. I knew early on that I had to schedule my posts. I had so many ideas and still do. I didn’t really get to some of the content I wanted during this time because the first two weeks of the month we got that nasty bug that just wouldn’t go away. I had planned on doing quite a few video tips but not with how I looked and felt! Now I will be in the studio working on those and releasing at least one per week. Finding the editorial calendar plug in was one of my favorites this month for sure. If you don’t have it I suggest you install it. It made posting and editing so much faster. The days just flew by!
The blog challenge has helped me with the direction of where I am going to take my blog in the future. As I mentioned I will be doing video tips but they will be tips for businesses to help with their online visibility strategies. I also plan on creating videos to help those who want to start using video on their blogs and on their websites. As an award winning videographer I have seen so many people try to implement video but fall short of doing it with the level needed to really capture and hold people’s attention. My goal is to help your message come across in a professional manner so that people take notice of you!
My blog is also going to focus a lot more on google plus. I have a video training series coming out on that and will be posting more articles so businesses can start to utilize this wonderful social media tool.
From this blog challenge I have found some other support groups like the Firestarters and I thank them for welcoming me into their group. I look forward to getting to know all of them!
What it boils down to is you get what you put in. If you are active in your business you reap benefits. If you support others they support you. It’s about building relationships which I believe is the corner stone of our businesses. I look forward to building these relationships not only with my clients but with other businesses as well.
In my opinion we were all super heros!
