When you look at others you might think that their success was an easy path.
What you may not realize is that many of the people who are successful asked. You might be thinking, that’s all? They asked and they received? No, it’s not that simple.
Here’s a perfect example. The other day I was watching the Steve Harvey show and he had Jamie Foxx as his guest.
Jamie Foxx was in comedy but he really wanted to be singing. What did he do? He started asking people to his home to have fun and sing. One of the people who came to his home was Konya West. They sang and recorded a song together and Jamie didn’t think anything of it. As a matter of fact he thought it would never go anywhere. He went off to do a movie and when he came back the song was number 1 (at least I believe that’s what he said). That was exactly what he needed and his signing career started taking off.
What can Jamie Foxx teach you about growing your business?
If Jamie Foxx didn’t ask where would he be today?
This should be a good lesson for you when it comes to getting the things you want in your business.
Let’s say you want to be speaking at different networking groups? How is that going to happen? You have to ASK! You’ll need to get in touch with the person who is the group leader. Is that out of your comfort zone? Perhaps, but it’s something that needs to be done.
Being successful in life means knowing how to deal with and overcome obstacles. Life tends to throw us curve balls but it’s how we react to them that makes the difference.
This is so important that there have been numerous books written on the topic. One such book is the Aladdin Factor by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen.
In this book they talk about having the willingness to ask for things in life. It’s this ability that allows your dreams and goals to come true. Anyone can do this. All you need to do is take a chance.
Is it simply a matter of asking to get the success you are looking for? No. You need to have the ability to follow through and get those things that you asked for. [envoke_twitter_link]Research any successful person and you will find that they were all action takers.[/envoke_twitter_link] They were willing to go out and get what they wanted. They didn’t wait for it to be handed to them.
This also means that you need to be willing to change direction when needed.
For example, lets’ say you wanted to quit your job and start your own business. You asked your current boss if you could decrease your hours but he said no. Instead of quitting before you were ready and in a better position to take action wouldn’t it be better to find out how you could continue growing your business until it was able to replace your income? This might mean you have to get up earlier in the morning or stay up later at night. [envoke_twitter_link]Nothing will happen if you don’t take action.[/envoke_twitter_link]
If you weren’t open to take action you might stay at your current job and never start your dream business.
Remember[envoke_twitter_link] success comes to those that ask[/envoke_twitter_link].
What have you asked for that helped your business grow?
