Could this be Walmart’s version of Shark Tank? Get On The Shelf Walmart Webisodes.
As an award winning videographer I know video is no longer an option for businesses to integrate into their marketing strategy it’s a must.
One of the topics that always comes up at networking events is video. The creation of video, why video etc.
You don’t have to be a huge company to incorporate video into your business. You can actually learn from what they are doing and think creatively.
In the past I’ve talked about Shark Tank and the fact that I love the show and the opportunties it gives entrepreneurs.
Obviously Walmart has also taken note of the show and now they have created their own show called “Get On The Shelf“. Let me just say, “Love, love, love the idea”. What a fabulous way for an entrepreneur to get their products on the shelf and I might add at one of the largest retailers!
Walmart’s Get On The Shelf is a webisode where each week you watch 4 entrepreneurs present their products and then you vote for them!
Here’s the first webisode:
Walmart is doing so many things right when it comes to these Webisodes.
First: Don’t you wish you could vote for some of the people on Shark Tank? Are there times when people don’t get an invester and you the consumer wish they had? Walmart gives you that opportunity by making the show interactive. You know the entrepreneur you are voting for has the potential to Get On The Shelf where you can buy their product.
Second: Walmart is using social media. How? When you vote you are taken to Facebook where your friends can see your choice.
If they don’t already know about the webisodes your vote will bring attention to it.
Third: It’s building a community. Walmart also has the share buttons on the left side of the webisode page so you can tweet it, pin it etc. By tweeting this to your followers, sharing it on Facebook and Pinterest you are helping build that community. You are part of making a positive change in the world. As a community we can come together and help these entrepreneurs Get On The Shelf.
How can your business use the idea of a webisodes?
When you create your videos you need to start thinking of them as your own web episodes.
Use these videos in your blog posts or make a specific webisode page.
My goal when creating my videos is to help you think of your business (whether you are an author, entrepreneur, small business owner..) in unique ways. The videos are meant to be informational and inspirational. As a matter of fact in one of my videos I talked about your website being like your own TV channel.
Why not have a websisode page so others can see the content you have. View it and learn from it.
You can still use the videos in your blog posts but by making a specific websisode page people can access them easily.
That’s exactly what I’ve done on my webiste. I created my own “webisode channel” .
