Is it too late to start a business? This is the question I’m asked by many women in their late 40’s early 50’s. These women are not alone in there desire to start a business of their own. As a matter of fact I read an article about a number of Lake Tahoe residents who instead of opting for retirement are opting to start their new career!
One study reveals the 25 million Americans age 44-70 hope to start new ventures in the next 10 years.
No matter what the age there are always certain steps that need to be taken before you can actually start your business.
It’s not enough to have a great idea. That idea has to actually provide an income. How do you know if that would be true for your idea? You need to research it.
There are a number of ways to research if you have the right idea. I’m going to share with you 4 tips to see if your idea could be a profitable one.
Tip 1: search the internet for your idea. See if there are already businesses who are implementing that idea.
Tip 2: Visit web sites that are based on your idea.
Tips 3: search for magazines on the topics that you want to start your business in.
Tip 4: Set up Google keyword alerts for your business idea. These alerts send you to various web sites that are discussing your topic. Read through the various articles that you find so that you can make an informed decision.
I believe that the success of a business lays in the proper foundation. Before you can build your business you need to know that you have that solid foundation.
I love watching Shark Tank and I remember Mark Cuban specifically saying to someone, “not every idea is a good idea”. That is so true. It’s a good idea if it can generate an income for you and your family.
Once you have that foundation you are ready to move on to the next step.
Do you have an idea you’re thinking of for starting a business?
