Today is Wednesday’s Woman Entrepreneur.
Many women start there own businesses because they realize that when it comes to salary they can make as much if not more than their male counterparts by becoming entrepreneurs.
For those in the workplace here’s what’s going on. Women CFO’s have increased by 35% at US companies during the past year.
Men still make up 90% of the CFO’s but women have gone from 40% to 54% among Standard & Poor 500 Index companies.
At JPMorgan Chase & Co and other companies women are now overseeing the finances.
Things are changing in the work place but for many it’s not fast enough and decide to become female entrepreneurs.
If things were more equal would that make a difference? Would women still start businesses at a higher rate then men?
It’s an interesting thought.
Among the female entrepreneurs I know of its been about their values. They realize they can make a larger contribution to the world we live in and in turn that makes the world a better place for them and their families. That difference affects others in a positive way as well.
It’s about making a contribution to something they really care about.
Let’s look at an inspiration female entrepreneur. Her name is Nancy Epstein.
What has she accomplished? In Business News Daily she has been called an Artistic Entrepreneur. Nancy’s the CEO and founder of Artistic Tile. She has created a tile and natural stone empire.
Here’s what the company’s about page says in part:
“ Founded in 1987 by Nancy Epstein, she still serves today as the CEO and principal product designer of Artistic Tile. As the entrepreneur behind the prestigious brand, Nancy is a leading authority in the manufacturing, importing, and distributing of luxury tile and stone. She travels extensively throughout the world to find the very best quality stone and discovers materials and artisans that have not been seen before in the United States. Some of her favorite destinations include: Israel, Italy, France, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey, Mexico, India, and Vietnam. Nancy is known for establishing industry trends – or themes as she likes to call them – and is consistently pushing the boundaries with the design of her own innovative, award-winning products. She is a visionary and her designs have been featured in top shelter media outlets.” I just had to include this sentence as well from the company website: “
Our company’s core value of generosity is expressed in many ways, including philanthropic endeavors with charitable organizations worldwide.”
Sounds like a fabulous female entrepreneur!
Here’s one of their gorgeous tiles:
I just couldn’t resist sharing this Mosaic with you. I love it!
Her company takes her all over the world where she is able to work with artisans and crafts people.
When asked what her advice would be for those seeking their career dreams here’s what she said:
“Be brave. Don’t listen to naysayers. Be willing and able to make decisions quickly, sometimes without knowing all the facts. Be willing to be wrong, and not letting the fear of making mistakes slow you down.”
