The month of September found me speaking to a number of groups. One of those was Working Women Of Tampa Bay. They have a series called Driven To Succeed. I talked about sending out emails and some other tips for making your website a lead generating machine.
Your website is definitely one of the ways you build your visibility.
If you don’t have the proper engagement in place however it’s as if you are invisible. How? There are many people who will find your site never to return again. If they don’t come back you are invisible to them. If on the other hand you have the proper engagement in place you can reach out to them and become visible.
When someone signs up to your email list you can in essence continue the conversation with them via email.
Once someone is on your list you want them to feel important. What’s one way you can do that?
Use your subscribers first name. In all of your communications you you want to personalize your message.
Most email marketing software gives you the option to use the first name or something like “Hi Friend” for when they don’t give you their first name.
Madmimi enables you to do this so if you are looking for an email service subscribers check them out. I can tell you from personal experience that they have great customer service. As a matter of fact I’m so Impressed with them that I mentioned them in my latest book: The Secret Equation To Attracting More Clients.
They have a free and paid service so click the image to check them out:)
The point is to find a way to send personalized messages. It’s all about building business relationships. Think about meeting someone new at a networking event. Would you call them “hey you”? Of course not! You would find out their name and then use it as you were talking to them and in subsequent communications.
Another way to connect on a personal level with your subscriber is to ask for their opinion. Maybe you are looking for feedback on a program or new logo. Include them in your decision making process.
Your emails shouldn’t be all about “selling”. They should be about getting to know those on your list and then find the ways you can help them.
With that in mind you can also make offers to them and only them. It’s part of the bonus for being on your list!
One of the other things I mentioned at my presentation in Tampa was that those on your list are real live people.
Unlike what you may have been told it’s not about having a huge list. It’s about having a responsive list.
People buy from those they know, like and trust. One of the ways they “get to know” you is by the communications that you send out.
One final tip I’ll share with you when sending out your emails.
Say thank you to them. Let the know in your emails that you appreciate them being on your list.
Email marketing is effective when used properly.
