Amazon acquires Goodreads.
When my daughter was little she learned to read at an early age. I remember watching Sesame Street with her and the they said reading was “fundamental” with an emphasis on “fun”.
Everyone in my family loves to read myself included. It’s not surprising then that I would want to write my own book for others to read.
The world is opened up to us in many ways by the books we read. That’s why when I heard about Amazon acquiring Goodreads I decided to share it in “story” form.
Once upon a time there was a land full of dreams. This land helped us explore new and exciting places. We could learn about art and culture. Our world is opened up as we learn how to make a difference in our lives and the lives of others by staring a business. There’s even traveling to places like Italy, Australia, Switzerland and many other places. Soaring high above the clouds no longer seems impossible as we learn how to strectch our minds with limitless possibilities. This “land” even helps us learn how to avoid stress and so much more. That land is called Kindle.
Just imagine. All this wonderment right from the privacy of our own homes!
But wait there’s more!
In a far, far away place there was another “land” full of readers looking for suggestions. In this land we could find recommendations to make us even happier. Another place where people could get together and discuss what they needed to help them with their life’s journey. That land was Goodreads.
One day the King of Kindle decided to “marry” Goodreads. It seemed like the perfect thing to do. Here’s what the King’s spokesman Russ Grandinetti, Amazon’s vice president of Kindle Content noted that “Goodreads has helped change how we discover and discuss books and, with Kindle, Amazon has helped expand reading around the world — together, we intend to build many new ways to delight readers and authors alike.”
Wonderful words indeed!
What did the spokesman for Goodreads have to say? “I’m incredibly excited about the opportunity to partner with Amazon and Kindle,” Otis Chandler, Goodread’s co-founder and CEO, said in a statement. “We’re now going to be able to move faster in bringing the Goodreads experience to millions of readers around the world. We’re looking forward to inspiring greater literary discussion and helping more readers find great books, whether they read in print or digitally.”
A magical moment for one and all!
As I was writing my soon to be released book ( Sexy, Savvy and Successful) I became more involved with other authors. I was able to learn about “lands” I never knew existed. Last month was the first time I heard about Goodreads.
I quickly visited the site and was in awe of what I saw there.
One of the features I enjoyed was their quotes page. Here’s one of the quotes I wanted to share from that page.
Notice that on their site you can “like” the quote.
Quotes are very inspirational which is why at the end of my book I decided to add a selection of them.
Goodreads launched in 2007 and currently has more than 16milion users.
Personally I can’t wait to have my book offically launch! Just think of being able to touch the lives of all these people with your book! Gives you goosebumps!
I have always loved to read and both these “lands” offer a magical carpet ride to new and exciting places never before experienced by many of us.
This “marriage” is sure to be a lasting one with subjects from all lands rejoicing.
Are you on Goodreads? Had you ever heard of them before?
