One of the first things I implemented this month was the changing of my office space. I needed it to be larger. I also wanted a new look and feel. A change of settings. My office now is a lot brighter and larger.
As I set off to decorate my new space it was time to think of some wall treatments. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do until we went to the fabric store. I had planned on getting fabric to have my husband (he is super handy in so many areas) re-upholster my two chairs.
While we were there the idea below came into being! For our canvas frames my husband always does them himself. He would stretch the canvas around frames and then we could either use an actual frame or use them as is! So when we saw this material it clicked! Make it like a “canvas” print! I am sooo loving it in my space.
Then recently my dad gave me a really cool clock from his collection and I used that on one of my other walls.
I don’t want the walls to be too “busy” because this is a calming work space.
I’m still working on the space and it’s coming along perfectly!
Have you ever wondered if a wall treatment can really impact the look and feel of your office space? Surprisingly, wall treatments can really change your space. Here’s how various wall treatments can change a room.
One of the big reasons why people do wall treatments is to create an illusion of more space than is actually there. Here are some techniques that are used to make a space seem larger.
Here are some tips for doing that:
1) Light Colors – This seems pretty basic, and it is, but you’d be surprised how often just painting a room gets overlooked as a legitimate wall treatment to increase the feeling of space. Another tip from experts is to go neutral as well as light. Neutral colors do not call attention to themselves, giving the room more of a “wall-less” feeling.
2) Mirror, Mirror on the Wall… – While too much stuff on your walls can look crowded and cluttered, a few strategically-placed mirrors on the walls can really enhance the feeling of space. If you position a mirror so that it reflects a window, it increases the natural light and can even look like you have another window.
3) Windows – Windows are part of your wall, and how you decorate them can affect the look of your room dramatically. If you are trying to make a small room look bigger, consider no window treatments at all. If privacy is an issue, you might simply cover the glass with sheets of clear plastic that blur images – light gets in, but prying eyes don’t.
4) Wainscoting -Paneling
Paneling shouldn’t be ruled out as a wall treatment that can bring great change. You can stain it paint it etc. There are so many options for paneling these days, either something you make yourself or buy pre-made. Panels no longer mean the fake wood look! You can even use tile for a sleek look, metal for an industrial look, and even wood blocks for a warm, woodsy feel.
Various wall treatments can say a lot about your personality and make a statement. Some interesting things you can hang on your wall include road maps! It could be prove to be something like an inspiration board. Some people also use post cards in a variety of ways to decorate their space!
As you can see your whole room can go from boring to bold with just one wall (or part of one wall) decorated in a unique way.
I knew woman who loved old furniture and she had a really pretty looking chair hanging on her wall! You had to see it to believe it. Talk about unique!
