6 Ways Women In Business Stay Focused
Do you have a lot on your plate? Of course you do! But that won’t stop you from being focused!
Between raising children and taking care of a home you are also a woman in business.
Staying focused is extremely important if you are going to get everything on your “must do” list done.
The wonderful thing about women is that we are great at multi tasking.
With that being said when you work from home you have to make sure that you use your time in the best way.
Let’s see if I can make your life easier by sharing some tips on staying focused when it comes to your business.
Tip number 1: Remove anything on your computer that would cause distraction. In a perfect world you would have a computer that is strictly for business. I’ve had many discussions with women who say their computer does double duty (like them).
The children may get on your computer to play games etc. so you have to make sure you eliminate those distractions or else you might find yourself playing a quick game that takes hours!
Make sure you also close down any programs that are unnecessary.
Tip number 2: Make lists. I don’t know about you but I get such a feeling of accomplishment when I can go down my list and scratch things off! Start making a list of all the things you need to do. Keep your list visible so it acts as a reminder.
You can either update your list or challenge yourself to get everything on the list done before starting a new one.
Tip number 3: Refreshments. You’d be surprised how much time you can waste getting up and down for coffee or water. Rather than getting up for that refreshing glass of water why not keep a water bottle at your work desk? If your like me you love your coffee. You can have keep a flask of coffee at your desk!
That being said throughout the day make sure you do take some quick breaks to stay energized. Just don’t get involved with doing laundry or some other type of household chore. If you do then you’ll have a totally different problem going on.
Tip number 4: Get a good quality chair and desk. Make sure your workspace is comfortable. At the beginning of the year when we moved my office space into a larger room with a great view in the house I shopped around for a new chair. I have to say my choice has proven to be a good one! I also got a new desk that gave me enough room not only for my computer but ample workspace.
Tip number 5: Don’t get sidetracked by your emails. It’s so easy to have that happen. I get up early to get my work done and then a few hours later when I want to “take a break” I quickly scan through my inbox. I have to say Gmail is helpful in that it sorts my mail for me!
Remember in tip 2 we talked about lists? Make a list as to when you will do certain things.
For example you could make a list, which reads “Monday 1:00 – 2:00 comment on other peoples blogs”. That’s an important task that you need to be incorporating into your business. I’m sure you get the idea.
Tip number 6: Set up your “office” hours and stick to them. Included in those hours should be time to take a break for lunch.
If you work on these 6 tips you will find yourself being more focused and productive!
