Cable and Cassie Shepherd loved fashion. Their dream was to start a business selling clothing. They wanted to open a store in a mall in Utah.
What they quickly discovered was that their rent would be super expensive. How expensive? Hold on…$7,000 a month!
Can you imagine that?
What would you do if you were in their situation? Would you give up on your dream?
You’ve probably heard the expression “think outside the box.”
In this case their thought inside the truck.
Check out their video:
As you can see the couple purchased a food truck and got really creative.
They took that old truck and started by tearing out the plumbing and rebuilt the inside to their specifications.
What does every clothing “store” need? A place to try on clothes! Well, they built two dressing rooms and filled the truck with trendy small to extra-large men’s and women’s clothes.
There were brands that thought this was the coolest thing ever and wanted their clothes in their truck.
Next they started going to college towns, apartment complexes, concerts, events any place they could think of to sell their clothes.
That was back in 2014 and they are still going strong today.
Here’s what their first truck looked like then:

What does this have to do with your business?
Step 1: Research your idea
Find out if this is something that’s been done before. Is there a way to improve upon it? How can you make a product (a solution) that others haven’t thought of?
No doubt Caleb and Cassie Shepherd did the research and discovered that no one was doing this!
Step 2: Create your plan
It’s wonderful that you have this idea but now you have to create a fail proof plan of action. Listening to the majority of entrepreneurs on Shark Tank this is what they did. They put down the details of how their product would work. Having this plan of action will enable you to follow through and make the process much easier.
Step 3: Squash the fear
There’s always that fear factor. Will it work? Can I do this? You need to push that fear behind you. If you don’t it can put an end to your dream. The fear will make you freeze in your tracks.
Think in terms of the big picture. Which is worse to have tried and failed or for the rest of your life wonder what could have been.
You might find it encouraging that Walt Disney went bankrupt several times before he became successful. Do you think he let fear get the best of him?
Step 4: Take small steps
Taking small baby steps is the best way to go about this. Otherwise it could lead you to become overwhelmed. There’s nothing worse than looking at this long list of must do’s. Break things down. Create a step-by-step system. Once you do this your system can be repeated over and over again.
Step 5: Ask for help
When it comes to areas you aren’t proficient in hire someone else to work with you. There’s nothing wrong with bringing someone into the mix that can help you go from concept to creation.
Turning your ideas into action can be difficult and yes even scary but the rewards can be huge!
Don’t rush into anything. Take your time to do the above steps and move towards your goal.
Ask any successful entrepreneur and they will tell you that they had a mentor or coach to help them along the way.
If you feel you need a mentor or coach you can work with me by visiting the Entrepreneur Hub Club its the perfect place for me to help you start or grow your business. Check out the details and phenomenal value you will receive.
The important thing is to start the process here and now because if you don’t you’ll never get started.
Until next time….
