Are you reaching your goals?
There are goals that you no doubt set out to accomplish at the beginning of the year. We are two months away from 2014. Scary I know! So how are you doing with the goals you set for 2013?
The beginning of the year may have found you looking at updating your website. You may have determined that being active on Google+ was a goal. Then again you may have thought about ways to improve your customer service.
Through my conversations with others at networking events and via consulting I hear many saying they aren’t where they want to be.
There can be several reasons for this. For one thing it takes time. A business doesn’t start and immediately start producing the income you are looking for. You need to not only set up your business but you need to advertise, get set up on social media and so much more.
Do you think people like Oprah got famous over night? Just think Oprah’s first job was a grocery clerk when she was 16. Do you think she had any set backs? She was demoted as a news anchor because was she wasn’t a fit for television! Can you imagine that! Not only has she proven she is fit for television but she owns (OWN) a channel and a magazine of the same name.
I could imagine that along the way she may have felt she could or should be further along but those thoughts didn’t deter her and they shouldn’t deter you either.
Moving forward how can you reach more of your goals?
Here are 4 tips for reaching your goals.
Goals – Categorize them as short term, mid term goal and finally your long-term goals. Doing this enables you to reach each goal feeling a sense of accomplishment. Celebrate those accomplishments.
Plan – Now that you have your goals in mind you need a plan of action. How will you attain each of those goals? Get out a calendar and start writing down what you want to accomplish for the day. At the end of the week evaluate what you wanted to do and what you accomplished. Look at where you can improve.
Focus – You need to focus on the most important things needed in order to reach your goals. It’s easy to get side tracked. That’s why the above tip of writing down what you want to accomplish is important. When you can visualize what you need to do it’s harder to push it out of your mind.
Prioritize – This is especially true when it comes to email. No doubt you receive many emails in your inbox. Decide which are the ones you need to tackle and leave the rest for later. For example if you need to respond to customer service issues that’s your top priority. People that are sending you promotional information can be read at a later time during the day. You could wind up wasting valuable time going through emails that have nothing to do with your goals.
Do I practice what I’m saying? Yes.
These are the goals I set out to accomplish at the beginning of the year (2013):
Finish and publish my book
Start a new blog focused on business topics
Create valuable video courses on topics my audience is looking for
I celebrated reaching all of those goals this year and I am more than thrilled about that:)
A mid term goal I had was putting up a membership site. I didn’t expect to accomplish that until January but I was able to get it up and running sooner! Don’t you love it when you exceed your own expectations? Not only was I able to get the site up I was able to start offering 3 courses!
The first course, which is “How To Start A Business” will be beneficial to all those who are thinking of starting a business. “The Art of Networking” is crucial to the success of a business. “Podcast Like A Pro” is an excellent way to have your online voice heard. Currently I’m in the process of working on a blogging course.
In these video courses I virtually take you by the hand and work with you!
There are a number of other courses I will be offering but my main focus is finishing a video training course, which my team is working on now.
As an award winning videographer I know how powerful video is for your business. It’s important to note that currently 70% of Internet traffic is video driven. That number is expected to go to 90% by the end of 2014. The time is now to start utilizing this powerful tool.
I know that there are many entrepreneurs and small business owners who want to start using video. Time and again I’ve heard that people are camera shy. This course is going to show you how to create videos where you don’t have to be on camera if you don’t want to! We’ll show you Camtasia, ScreenFlow, editing and so much more. This is going to help you start utilizing “The Power of Video For Business”. As we get closer to the launch date I will go into more detail as to what the course will offer but believe me this is a course you are not going to want to miss out on!
If one of your goals is to start utilizing video (and it should be) then this course is for you.
In the meantime be sure to sign up as a free member. The site has not officially launched and I am in the process of adding content to this section.
