I remember when I first started my photography and videography business how disillusioned I was. Like many others, I thought that if I took great photos and video people would automatically be drawn to me.
It quickly became obvious that I needed to learn how to market my business so I could stand out and reach my ideal audience.
That’s when I started studying anything and everything I could about how to market your business.
It was part of my routine to look at what was going on in the industry and see what others were doing. My goal was to put my own spin on things.
That’s when I wrote my second book: The Secret Equation To Attracting More Clients.
To this day I look at what others have to say and even share those thoughts.
Today I wanted to share with you 4 Don’ts of marketing from Brett McFall when it comes to marketing.
Don’t decide what the market place will do. That’s a great tip because so many times we think we know what others need or want but in fact we are totally off.
One of the other things Brett mentioned was testing which is another great point.
Let’s say you have a landing page for your free e-course. Is it converting? Could you create another similar landing page and perhaps change the wording or images to see what happens? Do you get a higher conversion on that new page.
It’s all about testing and looking at your analytics.
Don’t run a marketing campaign without a headline.
Think about your own habits. When you are looking for information, don’t you find that the headline grabs your attention? The same holds true for your marketing campaigns.
Tip: You can go to the website coschedule and test out your headline.
Whether it’s video or text you only have about 3 seconds to capture someone’s attention. Use the proper headlines.
I found this point extremely interesting. Brett said that people are waiting to be acknowledged and lead. They want strong leadership.
Another great tip he shared was that you want to describe the process people will go through when they purchase your products and services. It made me think of my membership site and how I’ve created a video that shows people how to log in and access their information.
At all times you want to acknowledge people and one way you do that is by sending them a welcome email.
For many years I’ve been telling my clients that you have to get the first name of the person who signs up for whatever it is you have to offer. You want to personalize your emails and that too was a point that was made in Brett’s video.
Don’t get stuck on one marketing strategy. What I teach my clients is that you need to master a particular strategy and then move on.
For example right now I have my 15 Day Instagram Your Brand Challenge going on. This is where you get to concentrate on Instagram and how it can give you more online exposure. After the 15 Days I’m going to continue the training so make sure everyone has a proper foundation.
My next challenge after that will be a blogging challenge because it’s the things you write and say that will help people see the abilities you have to lead them and get them their desired results.
What do you think of these 4 points?
