I was watching a recent Shark Tank episode and there was a gentlemen who was franchising his olive oil business. After visiting a European country where olive oil was in boutiques where it was tasted and then bottled fresh he knew that he was going to bring that idea to the US.
When he got on Shark Tank his numbers were impressive but he didn’t get a deal.
Mark Cuban said that many people get on Shark Tank not because they want a deal but because they want the notoriety. That wasn’t the case with Curt Campbell. Mark for whatever reason did not invest but said that he hoped Curt got the exposure that would help him.
That statement alone should help you understand how important it is to create brand awareness no matter what size your business.
It’s all about being seen and heard by your ideal audience.
There are many ways to bring about brand awareness but one of favorite ways is to blog.
When I was heavily involved in the wedding industry I blogged regularly providing brides with tips on how to plan a successful wedding. There were things I saw from behind the lens that were wrong and I thought how could I serve my brides even more? My answer was to become a certified wedding planner. That’s how serious I was about helping my brides by creating a wedding blog.
As my business moved more towards helping other service based businesses grow their brand with various marketing strategies blogging was on top. From my own experience I saw how powerful it was.
Any business that looks to market themselves and bring about brand awareness has at their disposal a number of tools to help them.
You can join online networking groups, participate in forums, hold teleclasses and so much more.
One of the easiest and simplest ways to grow your brand and promote it is to blog.

When you think about a blog you might recall the movie Julie and Julia. Julie started a food blog and everyday she was going to make something different. At one point as she was blogging she said something like, “Is anybody listening?” They were and her blog did become a success.
Many people like to blog as a way to get their message across even if they don’t have a business.
[envoke_twitter_link]Blogs are less formal in tone than the rest of your website. This gives you the opportunity to really connect with your audience.[/envoke_twitter_link] Tweet This
Connecting with Your audience
Let’s talk about that for a moment. When you can share what you do, how you do it and show your readers that you care and are real it helps your business build that know, like and trust factor. It also helps people make a decision as to whether they will buy from you or take your recommendations seriously.
The fact that your readers can comment on your posts makes it more of a conversation. That being said, don’t be discouraged if you don’t get comments. Some of the top blogs don’t have comments even though the information they are sharing is extremely valuable.
Did you know that search engines love blogs? When you post your blog it alerts Google that you have fresh new content which has their bots “crawl” your website. This gives you more opportunities to show up in search results which can bring you more traffic to your website.
There’s also a sense of camaraderie among bloggers. I’ve seen that myself. You want more comments? Band together with a group of other bloggers and support each other with comments.
You can also get support from other bloggers by writing link worthy content and linking to other bloggers. In this way you can harness the power of a blogging community.
Start doing research on those in your industry and you will find they all have blogs.
That means if you blog you need to create more of a brand awareness strategy that has you attracting your ideal customers/clients.
