There are a number of Facebook courses out there that show you how to market on Facebook. How to get more clients. Get more fans.
When Facebook originally started it wasn’t about businesses finding their customers it was about kids in college connecting.
Obviously Facebook has come a long way.
When I find interesting facts about Facebook that surprise even me I like to share them. Here’s a fact you may or may not know.
Fact 1 During prime time television there are between 88 and 100 million people (in the US) interacting on Facebook.
I found that fact extremely interesting. I want to engage with the show I’m watching not be side tracked by what’s going on at Facebook.
We had a couple over not long ago. As we were in the middle of a conversation our female friend picked up her phone to get on Facebook! Her husband told her how rude that was and she got off.
That brought about a conversation on Facebook and just how addicted some people are to it. Was she waiting for an important message? No. Did someone need to get in touch with her? No. Was someone waiting to tell her exciting news? No. She just felt compelled to pick up her phone and check Facebook.
Fact number 2 – there were 66.5 million people interacting on Facebook relating to the Oscar buzz.
That really doesn’t surprise me.
One of my favorite shows is the Voice. On it they talk about the twitter interaction. They’ve never said anything about Facebook.
We know that with twitter you use hashtags right? Well, now Facebook is introducing hashtags.
These hashtags will be clickable.
Let’s say you are a bride searching for a wedding videographer. If the videographer starts using hashtags then a bride could use #weddingvideographer in the search bar and find you!
It’s all about advancing and growing.
As business owners we need to keep up to speed with what’s going on otherwise it’s like coming into a movie in the middle. You have to catch up.
It’s not wonder some of my coaching clients come to me overwhelmed.
You need to be on social media there’s not doubt about it.
Find out which social media site seems like the best fit for you and your business then get laser focused on it.
Doing that will certainly help the overwhelm.
Oh, and when you are out to dinner with friends don’t pick up your phone and check Facebook!
I’d love to hear your thoughts and comments. How often do you check Facebook?
